Much of his experience has been in support of economic development and water and wastewater enterprise funds and has involved assessing financial feasibility, determining the financial impact of planned capital or operational events, serving in the role of facilitator for key financial processes, or soliciting funding solutions for major capital investments. Emily Edmonds

Emily Edmonds is a Western North Carolina native whose research and professional experience are focused on helping rural communities thrive. She has worked in economic development, grant writing and administration, and community outreach across the East Coast for over ten years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Policy and Political Science from Western Carolina University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she worked with School of Government faculty on a rural economic development research program.

She began her public sector work in the Towns of Sylva and Dillsboro and Jackson County, and most recently served as a Program Manager for a USDA-funded project at North Carolina State University to expand agricultural supply chains and infrastructure frameworks across the state. She has written and administered grants of over $10 million for towns, counties, and cities across the state in the areas of community redevelopment; social and health services; parks, recreation, and cultural resources; and agricultural economic development. She’s also worked with public, nonprofit, and private sector clients on research, data analysis, mapping, system analysis, marketing, community outreach, social and online media, and other public sector projects. Emily lives with her family in Western North Carolina and enjoys travel, reading, cooking, and exploring the state’s many amazing geographic and cultural resources.

She has successfully written and administered grants for projects all over North Carolina for economic development, neighborhood stabilization, housing rehabilitation, parks and recreation, public infrastructure, and downtown revitalization.
